Deutsche Bank's plan to move half of its sales and trading operation's back-office jobs by the end of 2007 to India did not come as shock to me because almost every month some famous companies the developed world are doing so. This will create more than 2000 jobs for the Indian economy. What is interesting to me is the nature of jobs that is going to be outsourced to . Sales and trading operation's back-office jobs are a bit 'high-value activities, instead of traditional areas such as call centres and IT support.'
It shows that Indian professionals are becoming matured to do high value activities. For Indian economy, this is very good news because such jobs will bring a bit higher salary and more foreign exchange. Deutsche Bank is a very respectable name in the Banking world. The move to India will encourage other large international banks too. This is not the first time that Deutsche Bank is sending jobs to india and after receiving benefit from earlier move, the decision makers of the bank have taken this decision of shifting jobs to India.
