Top cricket players are revered as demigods and are often more popular than film stars. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, (BCCI) is the richest cricket governing body in the world. To become nearly $200 million richer in the next 5 years, BCCI has taken a unique initiative to play some of its international matches outside of home. USA, Canada, Middle East, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur are among the possible venues because all of them are rich and contain a large number of immigrants from South Asia . Cricket is not popular in those countries and BCCI officials hope that this move can contribute in increasing the popularity of the game.
