Harvard University is going to open a subject on India soon. This information has been given by Harvard University 's outgoing president, Lawrence Summers in India.  He said, “Like people study political science, culture, public health, economics, law and medicine, students in Harvard will now study India as a subject.” This is one of the best recognitions of Indian success in modern world.

 Harvard University has taken this subject seriously and is trying to gather celebrity scholars like Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, Gardiner professor of history at Harvard Sugata Bose and Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khann. Figures like them can attract many meritorious students for sure.  Most probably, the subject will cover the whole of South Asia (which is also known as the Indian sub-continent), instead of exclusively focusing on today's India. When it materializes, the image and goodwill of South Asia will receive a good uplift in the west. Frequently, in the western media, the success stories of South Asian people lose their brightness to negative factors like political and religious violence, natural disasters and poverty.
