
Nepal is not exactly the ICT power like its neighbor but surely they are excited with the success of in the world stage in technology. Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) has organized CAN Info-Tech 2006, the main Information Technology fair of . 110 companies are participating in this 6 day (23 March-28 March 2006) long fair. Of them, 4 are Indian. CAN officials are up bit about the success of Info-Tech 2006.
Nepal's ICT sector has twin potential. On the one hand, it is easy to find cheap technical workers and can become a very good hub of outsourcing. On the other hand, the internal IT market of Nepal is growing. Thus, Nepal's ICT sector is an attractive place now. This is the 12th fair organized by CAN. CAN is becoming matured gradually and they are affiliated to WITSA and ASOCIO. The best thing of Nepalese ICT sector is the fact that growth in this sector is mainly contributed by the companies in the private sector.
However, like Sri Lanka, Nepal is currently plagued by political instability. The government is fighting a very bloody war with the Maoist guerrillas. Nevertheless, life goes on even in war and this time the organizers are expecting a turnout of over 350,000 in the fair.
