Organization watch: ASOCIO

Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) is the leading ICT organization in Asia-Pacific region. Actually, it is an association of ICT associations of the different Asian-Oceanian countries. ASOCIO was established in 1984 in Japanese capital Tokyo . ICT associations in the private sector are its members. From South Asia its members are Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. ASOCIO works as an Asian platform in ICT sector and encourages cooperation and growth in this sector among its members. Here, we can find both developed and developing econmies.

 ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) is one of its main activities in which a member organization hosts an event for all the ICT organizations of the member countries. This year, ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit will be held in China from 20 - 31 May 2006. ASOCIO ICT Summit 2006 will take place in Japanese capital Tokyo from 15-17 November 2006. Bangladesh,India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are very active participants in ASOCIO. ASOCIO Officers Meeting 2004 took place in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka . I covered that event for a computer magazine in Dhaka and got the opportunity to interview ICT leaders of different countries.

Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) is the leading ICT organization in Asia-Pacific region. banladesh has a good position on the organization but need bangaldesh need to develop it working policy. if banladesh improve in ICT sector then they will be as top country in this sector. because bangladesh has a very good source of manpower and chief labor.

WHen is next ASOCIO meeting?

ASOCIO can keep important role to increase the use of ICT in the Asia-Pacific region. Many Asian and Oceanian countries are the member of this computer industry organization. Since its birth, they are taking vital role to introduce and increase the use of ICT in Asia and Oceania. I believe that their work will be effect for human’s life to enlight the people.
