These days, many international companies are impressed by the cheap but talented pool of professionals of India and are outsourcing their jobs to India. It is nothing new and it is happening on a weekly if not a daily basis. The latest to join this trend is Agilent Technologies. It is a very famous measurement company and is based in USA. It is a leading maker of scientific testing equipment and has presence in more than 30 countries around the world. The company issued a press release yesterday in which it stated that it would investing $25 million over the next two years. Agilent will build a 10-acre campus near Manesar, Haryana which will be one of the largest research centers of the company.
Agilent has also announced to increase the number of jobs in India from the existing 1,200 to 2000 within a short time. "We have been on a high-growth path in India since we began our R&D services and financial services operations there in 2001," said Bill Sullivan, Agilent president and CEO.
As I mentioned earlier, there is nothing unexpected in the announcement of Agilent. The only thing to note here is the selection of Haryana. If you remember, a few days ago, I informed you in my blog that Mr. Hotmail Sabeer Bhatia was planning to build "Nano City" in Haryana. Thus, the state of Haryana is coming up very fast.
