
The Board of Control for Cricket in India, (BCCI) is now officially billionaire. A week ago, I wrote an entry titled, ' Exporting the game of Cricket?' in which I talked about BCCI's initiative to play some games on neutral venues. I commented that the main motive of BCCI behind such an initiative was to earn more money through television rights. Now, BCCI has sold TV rights of at least 25 matched that will be played outside of to Zee Telefilms Ltd for a sum of $219 million. As a result, BCCI's total earning from selling of different properties has reached to $1.052 billion.
BCCI has already become the richest cricket board in the world. BCCI officials are aggressively pursuing for acquiring more and more source of income. Recently, it got into trouble with mobile phone operators over update of cricket matches through mobile phones. Cricket is the only popular game to one billion people in India
