The leading aircraft manufacturer in the world Boeing is showing a strong interest about opening of a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) in India. In the news of Rediff I found out that the city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra is the leading contender although several states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been in the rat race to attract Boeing to set up their maintenance hub. The investment made by Boeing will be nearly $100 millio and 3,000 jobs will be created here.
Boeing's investment is certainly good news for India and it will only make India a more attractive destination for outsourcing. However, Boeing is happy with India for another reason. Recently, Air India placed an order to buy a large number of airplanes from Boeing.
In another news item published in the website of Business Standard I found out that Boeing to invest $1.5 bn in India for on setting up facilities, R&D and sourcing software and other equipment. This will be a huge investment and it will be a part of the order of Air India. So, Indian software companies will get benefited from this.
