China and India gained nothing from the useless hostility they had against each other for decades and at last, the leaders of these two countries have realized this mistake hopefully. So, now they are encouraging their business leaders to do everything to increase bilateral trade. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and CCPIT are jointly organizing a business summit in Beijing. The two sides are discussing about possible ways to increase trade and also investment. It is expected that in 2006 the bilateral trade will reach to $20 billion and Saroj Kumar Poddar, chairman of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is hopeful that this figure can reach to $100 billion within 6 years.
Really, with each passing day, I can see that economic interest is getting priority to political rivalry. Even 10 years ago, hardly anyone could think that India and China would have $20 billion of bilateral trade. Well, it's real now.
