![]() To millions people living in South Asia, Dubai is like a land of opportunity. If any member of the family goes to Dubai for a job, the whole family feels lucky as a job in Dubai can change the condition of a family. So, when I saw the report today that Dubai may have 400,000 leisure tourists from India this year, I touched the nature of development of Indian economy. Officials of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Marketing (DTCM) are now in India to arrange a four day long road show to attract Indian visitors.
For Dubai, Indian visitors are now among the top five sources of tourists. DTCM is now taking the Indian market very seriously and it is engaging more travel operators from India to send tourists to Dubai. Within this year the number of travel operators (in India) who will help Indian tourists to go to Dubai will reach to 1000.
I am sure now other countries in Asia like Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia will get inspired from this and will focus on attracting visitors from India. I see great potential for Indonesia in this regard as the country has a sizeable Hindu population and Hindu culture is very popular in Indonesia.
