![]() Tomorrow (14 April) is the first day of Bangla New Year. It will be celebrated in Bangladesh with its traditional grandeur. I wish all our readers from Bangladesh a happy new year. Bangla New Year will be celebrated in some Indian states too and I also wish them a very happy new year.
A few minutes ago, I was reading the internet editions of some Bangladeshi newspapers and in one Bangla newspaper, I found the news that city dwellers in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka are buying a lot of sweets, yoghurt and fish to celebrate the new year. Yes, fish and rice are the main food for Bangladeshi people and of course fish is cooked with a lot of spice. Many shops will open their new (account) book from tomorrow and entertain their clients with sweets.
In the cities and towns, the people mainly use the English calendar but in the rural areas Bangla calendar is still used because of agricultural activities.
