
Infosys Technologies Ltd. is the second largest software exporting company in India and today it announced that in the last fiscal year (ending in 31 March 2006) the company's yearly revenue crossed $2 billion. "It took us 23 years to reach the first billion dollars in revenues while we reached the next billion dollars in 23 months," said Nandan Nilekani, the company's chief executive officer and managing director. It shows how fast outsourcing in India is growing. Compared to the revenues of American giant like Microsoft and IBM, it is nothing but in India $2 billion is a huge fortune. Infosys is celebrating 25th anniversary this year and this good news will only increase the splendor of the anniversary. In the last fiscal year, Infosys appointed 15,965 new employees and now it has a total of 52,715 employees.
“This has been a happy, intense, rewarding and exhilarating journey of 25 years,” said N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman and Chief Mentor. “Infosys has created a team of high performers who have consistently demonstrated their ability to build the company of the future.”
