![]() Rivalry between India and Pakistan has cost a lot in the last 59 years and perhaps the culture sector has suffered more than anything. Movies made in India were not screened in Pakistan for the last 41 years and vice versa. These days, both Indian and Pakistani leaders are coming to realize that isolation helps no one and a historic event has taken place by the screening of the Indian movie, "Mughal-e-Azam" in Pakistan. This movie is one of the all time hits in Bollywood. It was made in 1961. On 28 April, Pakistani movie fans will enjoy the premier of 'Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story'- another Indian movie.
Well, the sad part is that these two movies are exceptions and the ban still continues. Pakistani government feels that if Indian movies are allowed to be screened in Pakistan then the local film industry will lose its business. However, there is very strong demand among the Pakistanis about Indian movies and sooner or later Indian and Pakistani leaders will realize the fact that in this age of free market economy you cannot shut down any culture if it has popular demand.
