![]() Nepal is one of the most attractive destinations for tourists around the world. Tourists come here to enjoy Himalayan beauty and most of the top ten mountain peaks in the world are visited from Nepal. So, for mountain climbers Nepal is like a dreamland, paradise and the holiest shrine. Nepalese people are by nature very hospitable and to foreign tourists this hospitality is extended double as the tourists bring much needed cash to the society and especially to mountainous areas. 13,000 people have lost their lives in the last few years due to the ongoing conflict between the government forces and the Maoist rebels but not even one tourist was killed. Last year, 277,000 tourists visited the country. However, many tourists in Nepal have seen the worst and the current condition have forced many tourists to cancel their trips.
This year is going to be a challenging one for the tourism industry in Nepal. In May, many Indians are expected to visit Nepal because of summer vacation in Indian educational institutions. France has warned its citizens not to visit Nepal until the situation improves. Well, if the current stalemate continues then it will really bring disaster for many families who directly or indirectly earn their livelihood from this industry. That means more misery for the poor people.
