The on going political violence has put the country in the most miserable condition in its history. The protest of the pro-democracy supporters is now in its 11th day and there is no sign that it will stop tomorrow or the next day. Everyday, defying a ban on demonstration in the capital city, hundreds of people are marching through the streets of Katmandu. Economic activities have come to a halt and as a result, serious economic crisis is looming over the fate of Nepal. Now, all the major media organizations around the world are talking about shortage of food and fuel in the capital city, Katmandu.
Like every big city of the world, Katmandu depends on the supplies of food and fuels from the neighboring small towns, villages and land ports (since Nepal is a landlocked country supplies from India is vital for its economy). Highways are the major backbone of Nepalese economy and as a result of the general strike and protest; the movement of vehicles in the highways have been seriously disrupted. So, fresh vegetables and fish are unavailable to the citizens in Katmandu. Even most of the shops are closed and that is why the misery of the people has reached to its extreme.
With thousands of Nepalese, I pray that there is a quick and peaceful solution to the current crisis and life become normal again.
