Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector is the lifeline of the economy of Bangladesh as it is the major contributor of export and foreign exchange earnings. RMG is also an important sector for Pakistan too. Pakistan Ready-made Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) has informed that USA importers are keen to increase the amount of RMG products from Pakistan in the US market. According a PRGMEA official, 15-member US delegation recently visited Pakistan and finalized a number of deals. Right now 25% of Pakistani garments export is directed towards the US market and if this increases then it is really a good for RMG owners in Pakistan.
This is welcome break for everyone involved with the RMG sector of Pakistan. These days, RMG is getting very competitive and every country involved with this trade is afraid of the rise of China. The markets of USA, EU, Canada and Australia are among the largest for RMG products. If a country can do well in the US market then it is sure to shine in the other markets too because the US market is the most competitive market. Pakistan's strong performance in the US market will surely give it an edge in the long run.
