Just two days ago, I wrote about the emergence of two
one is getting prosperous and rich while the other is getting poorer and miserable. While browsing Internet I came to this excellent article written by NR Ganesh Babu. The writer discussed the devastating effect of globalization on the Indian farmers. He mentioned that had committed suicide in Andhra Pradesh. Desperate poverty has forced these farmers into such extreme action. Mr. Babu has argued that since 70% of the Indian population depend on agriculture the government must try to do something immediately. He has his own proposal about this matter, "Indian Government can nationalize agricultural fields along with river waters. In turn the Government can employ farmers and start producing grains and other agricultural produce."
I do not agree with the solution put forward by Mr. Babu. Nationalization of agriculture is an impossible thing in today's economic reality. Secondly, nationalization of agriculture has not proved to be successful in anywhere in the world while the former communist countries of
East Europe are adequate examples of failures. However, I agree with Mr. Babu 100% that something needs to be done immediately to save the Indian poor farmers.
What do you think about it? Can you suggest of any way out for the Indian farmers?
