In my earlier entry, you have already known the success of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) in the last financial year (ending on March 31 2006). During this time, TCS added more than 21,140 employees- a lot of jobs, isn't it? If you think that it is a lot then what you will say to hear that the target for this year is 30,500. TCS in its press release for the media has claimed that it is the first Indian IT company to cross 60,000 employees. From this document, I came to know that TCS was increasing the number of employees of Non-Indian nationals. In fact, Non-Indian nationals increased 65% in TCS in the last fiscal year and now they form 6.5% of total base of employees. Now, employees of 52 nationalities work in TCS.
What impressed me most is the fact women comprise of 26% of the TCS workforce. All this is good news for Indian students who are now studying in the universities and will enter into the job market within a year or two.
