![]() "Made in India" products are gaining grounds in the world economy day by day and now Wal-Mart bosses have come to realize the importance of India. Within in a few months, Wal-Mart is going to set up offices in Mumbai and Delhi within a few months in its plan to make Mumbai a sourcing hub for gems and jewellery. In 2005, Wal-Mart purchased goods worth of $1.5 billion and in 2004 this figure was $1.2 billion. Stainless steel will be focus of Delhi office. On the other hand, the Mumbai office will be busy in purchasing textiles and apparel for Wal-Mart. Well, I am not sure if Wal-Mart is interested to buy handloom clothes from India or not but I would strongly recommend the Wal-Mart bosses to go for it.
Other shopping giants from USA and Europe will surely take this move of Wal-Mart seriously and we can see some of them coming to India and importing more markets from the Indian market. Food products especially spices can be very attractive items for the western market because of the growing South Asian community in Europe and America.
