60 million malnourished and underweight children: Is it India?
60 million malnourished and underweight children- I am not talking about Africa. According to a World Bank, India has this horrifying statistics. You can read the report from the website of the World Bank (it is free of charge). Malnutrition has attacked Indian children irrespective of place, religion and gender. It is present in the rural areas as well in the urban areas. Boy and girls are both victims. Unfortunately, very little is said in the media about the economic impact of malnutrition in India. The obvious effect of malnutrition is weak children. These children cannot perform well in education and even as workers they are under performers naturally. The impact will be felt after 15-20 years when these children will grow up and join the work force.

The report has stated that China has achieved substantial improvement in fighting against child malnourishment and even Bangladesh has performed better than India. The only solution is massive media campaign that will force the government agencies and the NGOs to become accountable for their activities and at the same time, the poor people will become more serious about taking better care of their children.

Do you have any other suggestion?
