![]() A week ago, Bhutanese people witnessed the publication of the first private newspaper in the Kingdom. Bhutan Times created has created interest to some people in the country. Bhutan's Prime Minister, Lyonpo Sangay Ngedup, was present in the launching ceremony on 30 April 2006. Bhutan Media Services (BMS) is the publisher of Bhutan Times. I read in the kuenselonline.com that two private newspapers were supposed to be published. The name of the second newspaper is Bhutan Observer. Well, I could not find anything about the publication of Bhutan Observer.
I am happy that Bhutan's government is going for political and economic reforms. The publication of a newspaper in the private sector is an indication of the fact that privatization of economy is now a matter of time in Bhutan. Of course, this is a good move but I just hope that the government does not follow modernization too aggressively and instead takes a balanced approach. Bhutan may be a poor country and may lack modern facilities like cable television or broadband internet but people are here more or less happy. The law and order condition is excellent too.

well starting to published newspaper is one of the good way to improve the country. Since newspaper also a good way for educating people.
Years after my country become independent, there is a good program for people on village. The government program is called newspaper reader group, the illiteracy people learn to read from newspaper.
This is a good way i think, this is a better way than sending adult illiteracy to school ( they will feel ashamed or embarassed ). Learn from newspaper also interesting because they also know about the world around that updated everyday.
Private newspaper also will give good effect for education and for political balance. But as a reader we must aware about chance to use newspaper as political tools, to tell people the wrong information. This use to be done by party that support the newspaper.
