![]() South India is a bit more developed than the rest of India. Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad- the top 3 destinations for outsourcing in India (and most probably in the world) are situated in South India. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala- these 4 states are considered to South India and the majority of the people here do not speak Indo-European languages but are speakers of Dravidian Family of Languages. The success in outsourcing has now created a strong demand for education and that is why a boom in private educational institutes has taken place in South India lately.
In this article of IBN Live, I could realize the sudden increase in the number of private educational institutes. For example the numbers of engineering colleges in the 3 South Indian states are:
Tamil Nadu- 260
Andhra Pradesh- 216
Karnataka- 120
As a result of good standard of education and the success in outsourcing, now students from other parts of India and neighboring countries are flocking into these educational institutes. In Eastern part of India, there is a shortage of quality educational institutions and many students from West Bengal and Bihar are coming to South India to study. The only concern is that of falling quality because now the management of these private institutions is getting more concerned with making profits than increasing educational standard.
