Cathay Pacific Airways Limited is a Hong Kong based big airline and in Asia it is a famous one. Cathy Pacific is now experiencing increase in demand in the Indian market and that it why it is going to expand its cargo operations in India. From June 2, 2006 Cathy Pacific is going to cover Chennai and twice-weekly direct freighter flights will operate between Hong Kong and Chennai. Right now, the airline has weekly three cargo flights from Delhi and Mumbai. The airline is even going to open a new office Jalandhar, Punjab as the number of passengers from Punjab is growing at a healthy rate.
By adding Chennai, Cathay Pacific has taken a smart decision as Chennai is the most important city in South India. Well, I think that Cathay Pacific bosses should consider covering Kolkata too as this is the center of Eastern part of India. Because of the growing Indian economy, demand of cargo transportation is increasing and Cathay Pacific has realized the potential of this market. Since, it is based in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific has the geographical proximity to India and if the airline can use this then it will surely have an edge over other international airlines.
