![]() It is summer time in South Asia. India is not exactly the hottest region in the world but I think that most people die from heat wave in India every year. This is still a mystery to me. The exact number of death is confusing to me from different news sources (listed here in the Related Articles) but there is no debate over the fact some people have been killed in several cities across the country. In the district of Sriganganagar of Rajasthan, people had to tolerate a temperature of 47.8 degrees (Celsius).
In May 1998, more than 2000 people died in India from terrible heat wave. There is still 1 month left for the monsoon to bring rain for South Asia. So, this May could turn deadly for India too. Because of poverty and lack of electricity facility many people cannot afford an electric fan and thus death is the final destination for some children and old people. This matter again reminds us of the fact that the benefits of outsourcing and economic growth are mainly helping some rich cities to become more prosper. Life, for the people in rest of India is still miserable.

What I understand is that it will take quite some time to solve this problem. Well, the attention of everyone is to the top few cities in India who are doing extremely well in outsourcing.

I had no idea about this sad data, Razib, but this seems to be a real need for a business that enjoys solving problems and going after a market in need... What do you think?
