A month ago, I posted in this blog that in March 2006, there were 5.14 million new mobile phone users in India. Thus in April, there has been a significant drop in sale. Well, I am not sure about the reasons behind such a significant drop but I must admit that 4 million is still a great figure. Now, India has 94.44 million users of mobile phone. So, most probably, it will take another 5-6 weeks for India to have a user base of 100 million. Still, it will not cover even 10% of the Indian 1 billion plus population. So, the market has still a lot of potential for growth for at least 2-3 years to come.
In April 2006, nearly 1 million (974,360) phones were added to CDMA network while GSM providers found 2.93 million new connections. These days, war words about CDMA and GSM technologies is going on and operators from both technologies are trying to prove that their technology is the world standard. The average consumer does not care which is world standard. They just want quality service at an affordable price. Yes, the price is indeed very affordable in India as far as owning and maintaining a mobile phone is concerned. What about the quality service?
Well, this is something only you- the consumers can say. So, let me know your idea.
