Intel Corporation, the largest chip maker in the world is going take a number of initiatives for the Indian market. In my earlier post, I informed you that Intel is planning to introduce the cheapest PC in India. However, this is just one of the projects of Intel in India and last December Intel announced that it was planning to invest $1 billion in the next few years. I visited the website of Intel and found about the initiatives of Intel for India.
Intel is partnering with Microsoft in Microsoft's 'pay as you go' PC program.
Now I am quoting from Intel's website:
Intel will also collaborate with ICICI Bank to facilitate loans for PC ownership through the emerging subscription payment model, ensuring long-term viability for computer financing methods."
Intel is also planning to ' extend computing accessibility and Internet connectivity to the 13 million people who pass through the railway stations each day' with WiMAX wireless broadband connectivity to the cybercafés.
Intel has taken India very seriously in its 'World Ahead Program'. Intel is going to spend $1 billion for spreading use of computer and internet in the developing countries like India.
These days, Intel is suffering stiff competition from its small but powerful rival AMD. Now the next battle ground may be India and that is why Intel is now taking the Indian market very seriously.

I'm not sure if AMD is capable of making a full blast in India. Like you said, AMD is a small rival of Intel and Intel is dishing out lots of money into Indian integration to the IT industry, so it seems Intel will have the firsthand and better exposure in the Indian market. I think in this case, the first who makes the most affordable revolutionary idea wins.
