Intel planning to introduce cheapest PC in Indian market
Indian success in outsourcing is known to all of us. What is not known that rate of use of PC among millions of Indian households with an annual income of less than $3000 is almost zero. This is a very attractive market if you can catch it and Intel is now confident that it is not impossible. These low income people do not want the fastest process or LCD monitor. They don’t care DVD player too. All they dream is a cheap PC that they can give to their children so that they can join the IT revolution in India. Right now, the cheapest PC in the Indian market costs 10,000 rupees ($225). Intel now wants to introduce a PC even cheaper than this price. Not only that the new Intel Desktop PC will have energy-saving microprocessor, a much needed feature for Indian consumers.

Intel Chief Executive Paul Otellini is now in India and today he said, "People really want a full-featured personal computer. They want optical drive, they want full-featured operating system. They want to be able to run games. He also said that the new cheap PC will be 20% cheaper than the cheapest PC in the Indian market right now.

If Intel can really deliver its promise then it will see its revenue rocketing sky high in the next fears not only in India but also in neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Cheaper PCs means more opportunities for people to give input to our growing Online revolution. But I guess with the rising prices of basic commodities and the rising prices of oil, cheap PCs would still mean a fortune to a growing number of poorest of the poor asians.

This is a very good news for India that Intel is going to launch a cheap PC in Indian market. No doubt, it will open a door for the lower income and lower middle class people to have access to the computer technology. I agree with you that India is a price sensitive market and the price of a product gets more focus than the quality so Intel is going to make the right task making a cheap PC for the Indian market.
Thank you for your well-thought article.
