![]() Indian people may not be rich but that does not mean that they don't like playing games. Of course, they are crazy for sports as you know that India generates now the largest amount of money for the game of cricket. However, I must admit that gaming console in India has not become too popular because of their price and that is why producers of gaming consoles did not target the Indian market until now. However, this is changing in this Dawali (the festival of lights) as Microsoft is going to launch its popular gaming console Xbox 360 in the Indian market. Microsoft is also going to set up 1,200 retail outlets in 7 major Indian cities. The price of a Xbox 360 will be 19,990 rupees ($439) and with this price an Indian gamer will get the console, its controller and a game.
There are all the indications that Microsoft is going to take the Indian market very seriously for Xbox 360. Microsoft is going to partner with Adidas, MTV and Samsung for ensuring adequate promotion for Xbox in India. Retail bookings for Xbox will start from 9 June in 7 cities and delivery will start early October.
In case you did not know, Diwali in India is similar to Christmas in the west and most companies give bonus to their employees. Thus, Microsoft has taken the best time to introduce Xbox in India.
