At last, things have become some calm and stable for Nepal and I am happy that now Nepalese economy has got a decent opportunity to operate normally. Nepalese tourism suffered in the worst possible way in the recent political crisis. I am happy that Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Everest, has come forward to support the Nepalese tourism industry. He is now 85 years old and of course he cannot do much physically at this age but in New Zealand Television in an interview, he called on all to work for the revival of Nepalese Tourism.
Edmund Hillary reached the top of Mt Everest on May 29, 1953 along with Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and since then Mr. Hillary has continued his good relationship with the country and his people. He has actively tried for raising fund for the Solukhumbu region in Nepal. Now, Mr. Hillary feels that tourism is the sector that can help Nepalese economy to gradually recover from the disastrous condition.
My hope and prayer are with the Nepalese people and with the efforts of Edmund Hillary. He is a real hero not for New Zealand but for the whole world. He is certainly an example to all of us.
