In just my earlier post, I lamented the fact that I cannot write about the success stories of Indian car companies in global stage. Well, after I read the news in Net that Nissan Motor Co. (of Japan) is going to set up an assembly plant in India, I felt both delighted and more optimistic. Nissan Motor India, a fully owned Indian subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co will implement this project. Most of the cars produced here will be exported. In the Reuters report I found that according a report published in a Japanese newspaper, Nissan is taking India and China very seriously and plans to produce 900,000 cars annually from the emerging markets.
Nissan is not an Indian company but I am delighted with this news. It shows that India is gradually becoming a major car manufacturing hub in Asia. Nissan is the third largest car maker in Japan after Toyota and Honda. Indian workers will get the much needed experience with Nissan and this will create a good effect for the Indian car industry in the long run.
Hopefully, that day is not far when we will see an Indian car company as one of the leading names in Automobile industry.
