When I want to know about any movie, I search in Internet and often after reading some reviews in Internet, then decide whether to watch it or not. For India, this decision matters a lot for the film producing companies and cinema halls as India produces the maximum number of movies annually in the world. Use of internet is growing very rapidly and that is why film producing companies are taking Internet more seriously as a medium of promoting their new movies.
Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) recently carried out an online survey of 6,200 users where it was revealed that 90% respondents replied that they used Internet to find out about the latest movies. You can read the detailed report of the survey in this link. Well, these days, there are a number of websites devoted exclusively to Bollywood movies. You can find wallpapers, pictures, songs, video trailers, reviews, interviews of the actors and actresses of the new movies. Bollywood movies have a growing market (in terms of money and viewers) in USA, Europe (mainly UK) and the Middle East. For movie fans outside of India, Internet is the best source of finding information about Indian movies. So, no wonder that Indian film producing companies have started to take Internet and online promotion very seriously. A few months ago the makers of Mangal Pandey created a website for the movie and the hero (leading actor) of the movie, Aamir Khan started a blog for the movie which became an instant super hit among the fans.
It is perhaps another indication that Indian online market is becoming matured and market opportunity will grow tremendously in the next few years.
