![]() One thing Pakistani people hate totally is losing to India in any competition. When Pakistani Cricket team of Hockey team loses some matches to India then the media becomes highly critical of the team management and players. These days, so much is said in the media about the spectacular growth of Indian economy and compared to that very little attention is given to the growth of Pakistani economy. So, now Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is perhaps a very happy man to claim that Pakistan is going match India in terms of economic growth. He stated that Pakistan might have 8% of annual economic growth in the next 5 years and might thus match the Indian economic growth.
Increase in foreign investment and consumer spending are the two factors that are contributing behind the economic growth of Pakistan. In the last one year, Pakistan had record amount of foreign investment. Consumers are spending money for buying mobile phone, motorbikes and cars. Pakistan government is also strongly pursuing privatization of state run organizations and next month Pakistan government is selling 51% share of Pakistan State Oil Co, the biggest supplier of fuel in the country.
I am happy that Pakistan and India are now fighting over getting a better economic growth rather than fighting in the battle field.
