Football may be the most popular sports in the world and even in Asia but not in South Asia. It is in a distant second after Cricket. No, South Asian country ever played in the final of World Cup Football. On the other hand, in the last World Cup Cricket (2003) four South Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) played. However, that does not mean that people in South Asia do not watch and enjoy World Cup Football. They enjoy a lot and because of the time zone, they sometimes watch World Cup Football until 4 or 5 AM.
World Cup Football 2006 is going to start from 9 June and will continue until 9 July. This time, the tournament is hosted by Germany. Already, in Bangladesh and India, many people are buying new television sets- some are buying for the first time while others are trying to buy a larger television. Many people who own BW (Black and White) TV sets are trying to buy color sets. For one month normal activities will get disrupted in the offices and educational institutions. The workers at the electric plants and companies will be in fear of being attacked if they fail to deliver power uninterruptedly.
