![]() Asian Development Bank will provide Nepal 10$ million as soft loan for the empowerment of poor rural women. This is great news for Nepalese government as the country is in serious need of getting foreign aid. It is expected that more than 200,000 women in Nepal will get benefited from this assistance of ADB. Because of the violent fighting between the government force and the Maoist rebels, life in rural Nepal has been seriously disrupted and this loan will help many families in the rural areas.
I am very happy that ADB has come forward to support Nepal at this point of time. However, this is not enough at all. I really wish that ADB agrees to provide generous support for Nepal so that the new Nepalese government can move its arms comfortably. After the pro-democracy movement of this April, Nepalese people have very high expectations about their own country. Without generous support from donor countries and agencies, it will be impossible for Nepalese government to improve the economic condition of the country.
