![]() Nepal is not the country famous for having a drought. In fact, Nepal is a country famous for its water resources. Unfortunately, the last winter was the driest in many decades and now drought has affected some parts of the country. To matter even worse, the drought has affected some of the remotest places in Nepal. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Nepal has come forward with emergency food aid for the people and the UN organization wants to reach 225,000 people who badly need food aid.
I am deeply sad for the people of Nepal. They have suffered a lot in the last one decade and the economy of the country is in very bad shape. Drought was the last thing they needed at this moment. It will be tough for Nepalese government to fight the drought and certainly the country need international support. I remember that over the last 2 decades some western rock stars arranged charity concert for drought affected people in Africa. I like to request them to arrange something for Nepalese drought affected people. I know the condition in Nepal is not so desperate like Africa but if the international community comes forward in support of the Nepalese people then the new found democracy will become stronger.
