European Commission (EC) has now come forward to support the poor and vulnerable people living in rural Nepal. These people suffered a lot in the long running violent conflict between the government forces and the Maoist rebels. More than 100,000 Bhutanese refuges living in Nepal will get support from EC. EC is going to give nearly $6.6 million. 170,000 Nepalese people living in the rural areas will be benefited from this aid. An attempt will be taken to support them and improve their living condition by ensuring better health, water and sanitation facilities.
On the other hand, in eastern part of Nepal, more than 100,000 Bhutanese refuges have been living for more than a decade and until now; there has been no sign of a solution to this problem. EC aid will be used for arranging food ration for the refuges.
I wish that other donor countries and organizations come forward very soon with generous financial support for the country. Nepal has got peace and stability after many years and financial support to the country will go a long way in sustaining it.

Most international aids in the past have political colors of their own such as winning sympathies from the locals for their national gains (in the case of EC, maybe for swaying the interest of the people away from the Maoist movement). I hope this one doesn't become like those.
