General Motors to set up Design Studio in India
It is my second entry about General Motors (GM) today. It seems that GM bosses have all of a sudden realized the huge potential of the Indian market and now they are too much eager to take the maximum advantage. I just finished reading an interview of Rajeev Chaba, president and MD, GM India in the website of the Economic Times. In the interview, Mr. Chaba informed that GM was going to set up a deign studio in India within 3 years. When he was asked that if GM cars will be designed in India, his reply was:
" The right attitude is there — intellect, brains, creativity. Most of the Indian designers working on scooters, bikes and even tractors are doing a pretty good job. I don’t see why they can’t do the same for GM. They just need the right infrastructure and exposure. And for this to happen, the right kind of environment and opportunity should be provided. As I said earlier, Indian designers at par with their global counterparts and we believe in it."

Right now, GM has design studios in US, Brazil, Europe, Korea and Australia. So, getting a design studio will surely help to boost the image of India in the international design arena.
