Use of Internet is still very in some of the big cities in Bangladesh and the country is yet to have 1 million internet connections. So, naturally, the size of online industry is very small and there are not too many websites that have thousands of visitors everyday. Absence of online payment system is perhaps the biggest obstacle behind the growth of online industry in the country. Another problem is that until now, Microsoft has not totally integrated Bangla language in its popular applications. It is expected that the arrival of Windows Vista will solve this issue. The good aspect of these portals is that they contain fairly good amount of content in English language. Since, online transaction is yet to be legalized in Bangladesh, the major source of income for some of these web portals is selling web hosting packages and domain names. They get some advertisements too but not much.
