![]() India is any comparison the best player in BPO. Its BPO industry is increasing very rapidly and perhaps too rapidly to keep pace with. In the last few days, I have posted several stories in my two blogs about Indian IT market becoming too much congested to find skilled workers for the Indian and foreign companies. IT is an industry where there are no alternate to skilled workers. So, India is gradually going on the verge of facing a shortage of skilled workers in the IT industry while Indian companies are getting more and more outsourcing orders. So, Indian IT industry leaders are now getting worried about the future. One way is looking beyond the border and involving the neighboring South Asian countries. Pakistan is already doing well in call center and BPO. So, naturally, Pakistan can be a good place for Indian companies. Sri Lanka is a good place too. India is also contemplating on Bangladesh and Nepal.
I found a very interesting article in Times of India titled, 'Indian BPOs forge Saarc alliances'. I am quoting here from the article:
" As Nasscom president Kiran Karnik says, "The BPO sector in these countries is still at a nascent stage. They can gain a lot from our experience. Of course, it’s a two-way relationship. We can help them in training while our companies can tap their human resources."
The past year has seen many Indian BPOs opening shop in Sri Lanka, collaborating with Pakistani firms, and exchanging high-level business delegations with Bangladesh and Nepal."
I strongly encourage you to read this article (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1676945.cms) in order to have an idea about the possible cooperation between India and its South Asian neighbors. Of course, it is business and Indian companies will look for doing business not supporting the companies of neighboring countries. So, I feel that the companies of other South Asian countries must try to grab this opportunity and become matured in BPO.
What is your idea about it?

The BPO industry is surely poised for a even bigger growth in the country. But my dear friend, there are other unconventional industries which are growing at an equally good pace. For example the rOck Music industry in India. I just read an interview of Arjun Kaul in Merinews. it was taken by Sudipta Sengupta, the upcoming citizen journalist in the country. Kaul demands that very soon the Rock Music indutry can outgrow the BPO sector. You can check it out in the following link:
