![]() Traditionally, Pakistan has very close relationship with GCC countries and that is why I did not get surprised to see that Pakistan is going to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) ahead of India with GCC countries. This will help Pakistan to have a greater access to GCC markets and it will also ensure more investment from GCC countries to Pakistan. Pakistan's Trade and Commerce Minister gave this information to the journalists yesterday in Abu Dhabi. Many Pakistanis work in GCC countries and these days companies of GCC countries are investing in Pakistan. For example, two days ago, I wrote in this blog that UAE companies were investing $30 billion in Pakistan. After this FTA is being implemented removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers will become easier.
I am sure that after seeing this news Indian government will become more conscious about signing a FTA with GCC countries. India is also trying to attract more investment from GCC countries and on the other hand India is eager to send more Indian workers in GCC countries.
