Papa John's International Inc. feels that it is the best time to invest and expand in India as middle class people in India are flourishing at a better rate than any other time in the history of the country. Papa John's has already two shops in India now and the company is now contemplating on the idea of opening up of 500 outlets in India in the next 10 years. Worldwide Pizza industry has the market size of $30 billion and Papa John's had 6% market share and if the company can become successful in India then within a decade it will substantially increase its earning.
South Asia indeed offers very good prospect for companies like Papa John's who are in the fast food business. Positive economic growth in countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will only create more demand for fast food and local companies do not have the necessary expertise and experience to address this market since fast food items are new in all the South Asian countries. However, companies like Papa John's have to remember two things while coming to South Asia with the expectation of cashing into the positive economic growth:
- They have to offer inexpensive items along with expensive ones in their menu.
- They have to make their items a bit more spicy to the taste of the people here.
