May be the title is a bit exaggeration but when I went through the Bangladeshi Bangla newspapers in the last few days, I felt that if Argentine national football team fails to do well in World Cup Football 2006 then they should pay a visit to Bangladesh to console their die hard fans. Now Argentine flags are displayed in every part of the country and in the capital Dhaka, there are perhaps more Argentine flags than even Bangladeshi flags. Tailor shops, television companies and traders, PC and TV card traders are very happy to see an unexpected boom in their business as a result of the enormous craze for Argentina in Bangladesh. Young men and women of different religions are going to their mosques, churches and temples to offer special prayers for the success of Argentina.
Many people in Bangladesh are doing the same for Brazil too but on a smaller scale. Football has taken the backseat in Bangladesh due to the rise of cricket in the last few years. Hopefully, World Cup Football 2006 will help for the revival of Football in the country.
