Yes, tell me which is better- 57 or 60. I am talking about retirement age from government service. Until now, in most South Asian countries, retirement age is 57 years. After that a person has to retire from government service and gets some money and pension for his service for the government. The same is true about Sri Lanka too. Now, Sri Lankan government is considering the idea of extending the retirement age for government employees from 57 years to 60 years. Now let us try to asses the goodness of both these age factors:
57 is Good because:
- It gives more time to the employees to relax.
- It creates new job opportunities for the young generation.
60 is Good
- If you can work until the age of 60, then you can get extra 3 years of salary.
- The government gets the service of the experienced workers.
So, now it is up to you to decide whether 57 or 60 is better. You may think it amusing or funny but the decision of the Sri Lankan government will influence the lives of thousands of families.
