Mohammad Abdur Rahman sells bananas at day and from evening to midnight he works as a mason in the city of Dhaka. He even cannot afford to live with his wife and children in this city. His wife and children live in a village of Magura district. Still, he is happy that he is earning enough money for his children. My photographer, Animesh Chandra Bain talked to Mohammad Abdur Rahman and took his pictures. Abdur Rahman informed that he buys 240 bananas in the morning from a market and then sell it in the streets of Dhaka until afternoon. Then he takes some rest and starts working as a mason in a building from 6 PM to 12 AM.

He is 40 years old and he lives with other 4 day laborers in a small room at Khilgaon area of Dhaka city. Most of the time, he eats all his three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) outside (in a street food shop or a cheap restaurant). Well, it is not a healthy thing at all but many poor people in South Asia have no choice either. Abdur Rahman tries to eat very simple food so that he can send more money to his family.

The life of Abdur Rahman is full of struggle but still he is very happy. He is happy that he can send enough money for his wife and children and they have a comfortable life compared to many poor people in Bangladesh. He is also happy that he can go to his village home 3 times a month to see his family. Most of all, he is happy that his two children are going to school and they would have a better future. He proudly stated that his daughter has passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam this year. His son also goes to school.
