![]() When I search about Sri Lanka in Google News, the only thing I can find any news about is the civil war. Life goes on even during violence and killing. What is interesting to me is that Sri Lankan economy is moving forward in such a time. One indication of the economic progression is sale of computer accessories is increasing in the country. In fact, Cisco is so happy with the progress that it has opened a separate office in the country. In the past, Cisco covered Sri Lanka from India. Lanka Business Online reported:
“Cisco Systems, the world's leading supplier of network equipment and solutions, hopes to double its sales in Sri Lanka as local banks and telcos keep pace with IT trends.
Having earlier serviced Sri Lanka as an extension of its Indian operation, Cisco now has a fully fledged office here, after the Colombo unit posted an impressive 25 percent year-on-year growth for three consecutive years.
"We are now looking at between 40-50 percent year-on-year growth for the next three years out of Sri Lanka," Cisco's Country Head, Rajkumar Natarajan said Tuesday.”
If the political condition improves then I am sure the IT sector will witness a boom in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, hardly anyone is optimistic about the improvement in the political condition.
