Today, the Indian city that I am going to talk about is Hyderabad. According to the article of wikipedia, it is the 6th largest metropolis of India, but in another website, it is mentioned as the fifth largest city in India. This city is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The population of the city is more than 6.1 million. Hyderabad is the 40th largest metropolitan area in the world.
At present, Hyderabad has emerged as a major IT hub. It is one of the cities where Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is situated. In order to flourish the IT industry of India, the Indian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology took a project of building IT parks in various cities in 1991. Under this project, STPI has been established in Hyderabad.
Like STPI, Genome Valley, a knowledge park, has been set up in Hyderabad to promote bio-technology. Various bio-technology firms working on various fields of bio-technology can be found here. It is jointly set up by the ICIC bank and the Andhra Pradesh Government.
Hyderabad is home to a flourishing pharmaceuticals industry. Famous pharmaceutical companies like Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Matrix Laboratories, Hetero Drugs Limited, Divis Labs, Aurobindo Pharma Limited and Vimta labs are situated here.
Hyderabad is also famous for its rice pearls. It can be found in different places in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad has a well established handicraft industry. Among its handicrafts: silverware, sari, paintings, lacquer bangles, silk-ware, cotton-ware, and handloom based clothes are very popular among tourists and local people.
Hyderabad contains many government and private educational institutions. These institutions also play a big role in Hyderabad’s economy. Various famous educational institutions like College of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and many others are located here.

Hey Rahzib, it's been a week or so since I last visited this blog of yours. Just dropping by.
I guess Hyderabad is really a flourishing city. It reminds me of another metropolis here in the Philippines, it's Cebu. It's also growing and can potentially overtake our capital which is Manila in terms of progressive developments.
