![]() Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has stated this figure. $2 billion is not a bad amount of money. Pakistani government is pushing Information Technology (IT) sector very aggressively for the last 5-6 years. The main goal is to emulate the success of neighboring in India in IT sector. Pakistan Times reported:
“The Prime Minister said Telecommunication today is the fastest growing sector of the country with 27% teledensity. The country has 37 million cellular phone subscribers and the number is fast growing.
He said the use of cellular phones among low-income subscribers is growing and in rural areas the government is providing the facility of phones through the system of wireless local loop.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan has come a long way in developing the IT industry and the total size of IT business in Pakistan has reached about $ 2 billion with 50% growth per annum during the last three years.”
Pakistani Prime Minister while talking with Ragnar Back, Chairman Ericsson Operations in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa said these things. I am mainly happy for the creation of new jobs in this sector in Pakistan. Pakistan government is trying to develop infrastructure in the major cities so that international IT companies can get world class facilities. Since, salary of IT workers in India is increasing rapidly; Pakistan can become a good alternative.
