Tomorrow is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. This day is observed across the world to announce solidarity with the poor people. If I am not wrong then South Asia has perhaps the largest number of poor people in the world. Many of them even cannot manage 3 square meals a day. I wonder if most of these poor people in South Asia even know that there is a day for them.
All the governments of the South Asian countries should be more concerned about eradication of poverty. Now, except Nepal, all the other South Asians countries have now high economic growth. However, the gap between the rich people and the poor people is only increasing. Take the case of India. Some Indian cities have the most modern facilities while the people in rural areas do not have even the basic needs of life. This is a common scenario in all over South Asia now.
In the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, let us hope that the governments of South Asian countries would give poverty eradication more priority.
