![]() I don’t know why the name of this disease is Japanese Encephalitis as people mainly suffer and die from this disease in South Asian countries like India and Nepal. Take the condition of Nepal. Almost one person dies on an average every day in Nepal from this disease. Every year, nearly 3,000 people get infected with this disease in the country. The sad thing is that there is vaccine to fight against Japanese Encephalitis but Nepalese government cannot afford to vaccinate all the people because of lack of funds. So, Nepalese government is now looking for funds. People's Daily Online wrote:
“The Nepali government is seeking more funds for next year's drive against Japanese Encephalitis (JE) campaign, according to a local newspaper report Sunday.
The Expanded Program on Immunisation under the Department of Health Services is in need of at least 140 million Nepali rupees ( 2 million U.S. dollars) for the campaign to cover 18 districts in the country, said the leading English newspaper, The Himalayan Times daily.
The report said that the JE campaign will be effective only if the program is conducted at least 90 days prior to the outbreak of the disease, which is usually in March and April.”
It is a tragic matter that people die so easily in Nepal. Well, Nepal is not the only one. Many people die in third world countries as they cannot have vaccination.
