Maldives is one of the few countries in the world that largely depend on tourism earning for their economic survival. Yes, if tourism stops tomorrow then the country will suffer serious economic consequences. However, the country is so beautiful that I do not see that tourists would be able to refrain themselves from the attraction of the country unless some disasters take place. The government of Maldives now wants to maximize the revenue from tourism. So, The Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has taken a plan to construct hotels on almost every island that has some inhabitants.
It sounds to be a good idea as it would attract more tourists and would increase revenue from tourism. However, I just wish that MTDC officials do not become too much greedy and destroy the natural beauty of the islands. Maldives is a unique country in the world. We all want to see its unique natural beauty remain protected.
